Working with Substance Abuse in Families
Lisa Parks-Johnson, LCPC, CADC, PsyD

This seminar will describe the treatment model used at Women's Treatment Center to work with chemically addicted women and their substance exposed young children in a residential treatment setting. Unique challenges with developing relationships with parents in recovery and strategies for partnering with them to promote their child's optimal development will be discussed. The presenter will also address appropriate community support needed to maintain recovery.
Dr. Parks-Johnson directs and oversees the parenting and children mental health services at The Women’s Treatment Center. She is a licensed Clinical Counselor who received her Certification in Alcohol and Drug Addiction Counseling (CADC). She holds a BS in Nutrition from Illinois State University, an MS in Education Counseling from Chicago State University, and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University.
This seminar will be held at UCP/Infinitec located at 7550 W. 183rd St, Tinley Park, IL 60477. Registration check-in and networking begins at 9:00. Social Work CEUs will be awarded. EI credits have been reapplied for.
